About the role
We are looking for an experienced Brake & Shear Machine Operator in our Newington, CT facility.
Responsibilities
- Read and interpret drawings and other written instructions and diagrams to perform tasks.
- De-bur and grind metal as necessary to achieve proper surface texture per job specifications.
- Recognize, set up, and operate hand and power tools common to the brake and shear department.
- Analyze blueprints, specifications, sketches, and work orders.
- Mark or tag material with proper job number, piece marks, and other identifying marks as required.
- Assist with repair and maintain equipment, making emergency adjustments or assisting with major repairs as necessary.
- Keep records of material or equipment usage or problems encountered.
- Operate forklifts and cranes to move material.
- Clean and lubricate machines per manufacturer’s specifications.
- Monitor operations to ensure that health and safety standards are met.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Must be able to pass a Welding and Fit-Up test.
- Ability to speak, read, and write in English.
- Valid driver’s license with reliable transportation.
- Physically capable of lifting, pushing, or pulling 70 pounds unassisted.
- Physically capable of bending, twisting, and standing for long periods of time.
- Able to work well with minimal supervision as well as with other technicians.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and follow specified procedures.
- Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and has a positive attitude.

Schedule
Full-time, 1st shift Monday – Friday (additional overtime as required).
