Brake Press Operator
Responsibilities
The primary responsibilities of a Brake Press Operator are to bend sheet metal in accordance with design specifications and to ensure each piece produced is free of defects. To meet these main goals, they may perform the following job duties:
- Studying blueprints and specification sheets to understand technical requirements
- Setting a computer-controlled press brake to project specifications
- Ensuring proper positioning and alignment of metal inside the press brake
- Making sure the pressing process is monitored
- Measuring and inspecting the finished sheet metal to ensure it matches specifications
- Troubleshooting and addressing problems that arise during the pressing process
- Complying with all health and safety standards in the manufacturing facility
Requirements and Qualifications
- A high school diploma or GED certificate
- A degree or certificate from a vocational school (preferred)
- Analytical skills
- An attention to detail
- Experience working with industrial machines
