Braider Operator I - Off Shift
About the role
The Operator is responsible for setting up and operating the reinforcement machines (Braid Machines). Essential functions include following standard work instructions, organizing and monitoring multiple machines, prioritizing job duties, communicating with Material Handlers, diagnosing and troubleshooting minor problems, and coordinating with Maintenance.
Responsibilities
- Follow standard work instructions and organize multiple machines.
- Prioritize job duties based on information from Work Leader/Value Stream Team Leader and/or braid set-up sheet.
- Communicate with Material Handler when needing supplies.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot minor problems to prevent serious mechanical failures and communicate with Maintenance when needed.
- Monitor production flow and check schedules to know current and future runs.
- Work safely in accordance with regulations, standards, and procedures.
- Notify leadership of unsafe conditions or practices, unlawful activities, and activities presenting unreasonable health and/or environmental risks.
- Report all safety and/or environmental incidents to leadership immediately.
- Prevent excess waste of product and/or components by operating equipment efficiently.
- Maintain production schedules.
- Participate in peer-based teams and work with groups to implement programs such as Lean Manufacturing and 5-S.
Requirements
- Production work experience preferred but not required.
- Good verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
- Basic knowledge and use of hand tools.
- Sound decision-making skills.
- Good math, reading, and writing skills.
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude.
- Mental and visual acuity for producing quality products.
- Strong trouble-shooting skills.
Skills
- Basic computer skills – Microsoft Office package.
- Ability to lift up to 30 pounds.
- Ability to work well in a team environment.

Pay
Salary range: $XX - $YY per hour. Final salary will be determined based on experience and qualifications.
Schedule
Flexible hours and short notice for overtime may be required.
Physical Conditions
- Standing is required for extended periods of time.
- Frequent carrying, reaching, lifting, and grasping.
- Occasional stooping, kneeling, bending, lifting overhead, pushing, and pulling.
- Requires high degree of manual dexterity, which could be performed under restrictive conditions.
Assessment
Employee must pass Pre-employment screening.
Organizational Relationships/Scope
- Reports directly to Value Stream Team Leader.
- Works closely with Maintenance to resolve equipment issues.
Physical Conditions
- Wears PPE: Safety glasses, hearing protection, ANSI Z41 Safety Shoes, Kevlar gloves.
- Requires standing for extended periods.
- Frequent carrying, reaching, lifting, and grasping.
- Occasional stooping, kneeling, bending, lifting overhead, pushing, and pulling.
- Requires high degree of manual dexterity, which could be performed under restrictive conditions.
- Requires flexible hours and short notice for overtime.
