Bracer
Position Overview
As a Bracer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the structural integrity and quality of boats during construction. Your main tasks include installing and securing braces to support various boat parts, working with materials like fiberglass, wood, and metal, and collaborating with team members to ensure projects are completed on time and accurately.
Essential Functions
- Reads prints and is responsible for bracing on a large boat.
- Frequently leads helpers or crew in bracing.
- Glasses foam holes, structural glass tie ins, cosmetic work and gray gelling of hull interior; performs inside hull work, grinds, scrapes, glasses and sprays gel coat.
- Installs wood bracing in hulls; assists in controlling material usage in area.
Required Qualifications
- Strong attention to detail to ensure precise and clean cuts.
- Good verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration with team members and supervisors.
- Able to identify and resolve issues related to hole cutting and finishing processes.
- Proficient in using hand and power tools, including drills, grinders, and buffers.
- Knowledge of hazardous chemical handling and disposal.
- Knowledge of mechanical objects.
Preferred Qualifications
- A minimum of 1 year of related boat building experience required; 3 years fiberglass lamination experience preferred.
- Able to audit departmental work areas.
- Able to maintain and adjust resin guns and pumps.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Computer skills.
- Ability to read and understand Job Descriptions.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints.
Working Conditions
- Maintain cleanliness, ensure safety compliance to include PPE adherence, safety policy adherence, and safe behaviors and conditions.
- Must possess the desire and ambition to always work safely and report all hazards to their supervisor immediately.
- Must understand basic terminology such as OSHA, DEP, and other regulatory agencies.
- Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment where designated, including but not limited to safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, etc.
Pay and Benefits
- The pay range for this position is $21.42 to $24.05, hourly.
- The actual base pay offered will vary depending on multiple factors including job-related knowledge/skills, relevant experience, business needs, and geographic location.
