Boyd Thermal by Eaton is seeking a Senior Buyer with 7+ years’ experience in a manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment and has experience working with suppliers in custom machining, mechanical fabrication, mechanical assemblies, metal distribution, and custom sheet metal.
Responsibilities
- Manage supplier selection and performance, including setting annual improvement objectives and monitoring results.
- Achieve lowest in-place cost for Boyd and its customers through strategic supplier management.
- Develop supply chain programs to improve inventory turns, reduce stock-outs, and enable flexible response to customer demands.
- Prepare commodity strategies to reduce the supply base and manage risks.
- Support new product development by sourcing components, negotiating prices, and managing customer flow-downs.
- Prepare and negotiate supplier agreements with key suppliers.
- Lead negotiations and implement projects for assigned commodities.
- Develop and maintain a list of Preferred Suppliers for each commodity, categorizing suppliers as Grow, Maintain, or Rationalize and executing associated plans.
- Maintain strong relationships with Engineering, Sales, Operations, and other functional teams to lead or assist in project groups.
- Communicate effectively with suppliers and internal customers on activities and metrics, including Supplier Quality, Service, Cost, Safety, and Integrity.
Requirements
- BS/BA degree (or equivalent experience); MBA and/or APICS/ISM certifications highly preferred.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in supply chain operations (industrial/commercial).
- At least two years of experience in a buyer/planner role.
- Sourcing contract administration and negotiation experience is highly desirable.
- History managing direct spend and establishing measurable year-over-year savings improvements.
- Strong technical and analytical skills; process-driven with attention to detail.
- Proven ability to drive results within a manufacturing organization while embracing Lean principles.
- Adept with Microsoft Office software, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
- Must currently reside within 50 miles/80 kilometers of the Billerica facility; no relocation benefit offered.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience establishing and implementing strategic plans for world-class sourcing of manufactured parts, preferably mechanical commodities.
- Experience supporting operations producing highly engineered mechanical product lines.
- International commodity sourcing experience.
Pay
$85,000–$105,000, bonus eligible.
