Responsibilities
- Transport staff, equipment, and supplies in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
- Drive company vehicle safely.
- Load, unload, set up, and tear down equipment at mobile sites.
- Pack supplies and equipment for mobile drives.
- Prepare blood and specimen tubes for transport and storage.
- Maintain a tally of units of blood and clots donated at mobile sites.
- Greet and treat donors and co-workers with respect and courtesy.
- Conduct donor registration.
- Convert eligible donors to Double Cell collections.
- Observe all work rules and procedures to ensure safety and efficiency of Mobile and Center operations.
- Report donor reactions or unusual incidents to the Team Leader.
- Assist in the refreshment area to note and address donor reactions.
- Escort donors (especially at High Schools) to the refreshment area and assist with reactions by ensuring donor safety, guiding donors to the floor, and reporting incidents to the Team Leader or Phlebotomist.
- Attend departmental meetings and training sessions; participate in the trial and evaluation of new methods and Donor Services techniques.
- Assist the Maintenance Department or Donor Services with delivering supplies or personnel to blood center events, mobile sites, or sub-centers.
- Perform Automated Lot Release responsibilities when required.
- Perform other duties as assigned that are reasonably within the scope of this job classification.
- Understand and perform in accordance with all applicable regulatory and compliance requirements.
- Comply with all standard operating policies and procedures.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience driving in a professional capacity required.
- Prior healthcare experience preferred.
- Possess medical knowledge necessary to determine donor suitability, render immediate care to donors and patients, and attend to safety and quality control issues as required by SOP and external regulatory requirements.
- Basic computer knowledge and skills.
- Ability to produce reports, documentation, and communications using employer-provided resources.
- Ability to balance resources effectively to optimize value and reduce costs.
- Strong interpersonal, decision-making, organizational, and detail-oriented skills.
- Strong understanding of policy, protocol, and regulations.
- Excellent customer service, interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
- Valid driver’s license required.
