Job Summary
The Truck Driver - Box works under the direction of the Transportation Coordinator to maintain efficient fleet operations. They further the organization's commitment to achieving triple bottom line results: integrating social, economic, and environmental goals into thinking, planning, and action. The role involves providing outstanding customer service while maintaining a clean, organized truck and safe warehouse.
Essential Job Functions And Responsibilities
- Collects, transports, and/or delivers goods to various Agency retail stores, processing sites, and salvage operations.
- Drives Agency box truck that requires a Class B or Class C driver’s license, delivering and/or picking up product at specified destinations in a courteous and responsible manner.
- Loads and unloads both trucks and tractor trailers, securing cargo before and during transit as necessary.
- Inspects, sorts, and processes product into boxes or totes while determining the quality of the product when needed.
- Maintains a clean and safe work environment.
- Operates specialized warehouse powered and non-powered equipment.
- Maintains contact with supervisor to receive delivery instructions as necessary.
- Obtains and maintains a powered equipment certification.
- Operates forklift in a safe and efficient manner as needed.
- Performs daily maintenance on forklift and trucks as needed.
- Maintains accurate mileage and time logs according to state and federal regulations, as well as Agency procedures.
Minimum Qualifications
- Ability to display a positive, friendly attitude in order to maintain a positive work environment and provide excellent customer service.
- Valid Class B or C driver’s license permitting operation of a vehicle in the state of operation with a safe driving record.
- Demonstrated ability to handle strenuous physical activity and occasional heavy lifting.
- Demonstrated to perform routine truck inspection.
- Successful completion of pre-employment and physical tests which may include drug and alcohol testing.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate in a courteous and professional manner.
- Criminal background check that meets Agency standards.
Preferred Qualifications
- A high school diploma or GED is preferred.
