Box Truck Driver

Responsibilities

• Transport finished goods and raw materials over land to and from manufacturing plants or retail and distribution centers.
• Inspect vehicles for mechanical items and safety issues and perform preventative maintenance.
• Meet delivery schedules.
• Document and log work/rest periods and miles spent driving and retain fuel/toll receipts.
• Comply with truck driving rules and regulations (size, weight, route designations, parking, and break periods) as well as with company policies and procedures.
• Pickup full trailer loads from one location and deliver them to destination locations on a daily basis. Ensure timely and safe delivery of all loads.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle. Maintain proper documentation for all deliveries.
• Occasional help with offloading materials at delivery sites.
• Adhere to all safety protocols and traffic regulations. Report defects, accidents, or violations.

Requirements

• Hands-on experience with electronic equipment and software (GPS, AVL units, CB etc.).
• Extensive knowledge of applicable truck driving rules and regulations.
• No recent moving or driving violations.
• Adaptability and foresight to handle unexpected situations (traffic, weather conditions etc.).
• Good communication and interpersonal skills to interact professionally with customers and clients.

Qualifications

• Valid truck driving license.
• Active Medical Card Driver’s License Class B.
• Two years’ driving experience.

Physical Requirements

• Prolonged periods of driving.
• Able to lift 50-100 pounds with assistance.
• Maintain strict adherence to safety rules and regulations, to include wearing safety equipment.
• Perform tasks such as lifting 15 pounds at a time, walking, climbing, stooping, standing, pushing and/or pulling for up work in a loud/noisy, and industrial, high-volume environment.
• Physical ability to walk and stand on concrete for the duration of the work shift, in increments of up to 6-8 hours.
