About the Role

Locally-owned K-12 bookstore in Tempe (Priest and Southern) seeks a box truck driver/logistics/warehouse worker for our summer season, with potential for part-time work during the fall and spring. This role involves driving a 26-foot box truck to pick up books at local locations, requiring repeated lifting of 40-60 pound boxes, loading pallets, and coordinating logistics with sales staff. Some travel opportunities with bonus pay are available, especially in the summer. Non-driving hours will be spent assisting with warehouse tasks such as sorting, picking, and packing books.

Responsibilities

• Drive a 26-foot box truck to pick up books at local locations.
• Lift and load 40-60 pound boxes onto pallets and the truck using manual or automated pallet jacks.
• Coordinate logistics with sales staff for book pickups.
• Maintain professionalism and problem-solving skills when handling logistical challenges.
• Assist with warehouse tasks, including sorting, picking, and packing books.
• Travel for purchasing/sales support with opportunities for bonus pay.

Requirements

• Experience driving a 26-foot box truck (forklift experience a plus).
• Ability to pass a background check and obtain an Arizona fingerprint clearance card.
• Clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
• Ability to lift 20-60 pound boxes repeatedly.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational and critical thinking skills.
• Computer savvy with typing speed of 40+ words per minute.
• Pass pre-employment math and drug tests.
• Positive attitude and ability to work independently.

Qualifications

• Able to follow moderately complex criteria while working efficiently.
• Comfortable handling changing logistical situations and asking questions when needed.
• Experience managing multiple parameters and procedures.
• Trustworthy and capable of working without supervision.

Schedule

• Core hours: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM, Monday – Friday.
• Full-time work (40 hours/week) guaranteed during summer months (May–September), with overtime opportunities.
• Flexible part-time hours available during the school year (as few as 6 hours/week).
• Blackout on time off from May–September.

Pay

• Starting pay: $18.50/hour for warehouse tasks, $23/hour for driving roles.
