About the Role

The BOSS HS POD Instructor delivers high-quality instruction in a blended learning environment for high school students, combining traditional classroom teaching with online learning methodologies. This role involves collaborating with educators, support staff, and students to develop and implement effective instructional strategies that foster engagement and academic success.

Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver engaging blended learning lessons incorporating digital resources and traditional teaching methods.
  • Monitor student progress through assessments and provide timely feedback to ensure mastery of subject matter.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop curriculum and instructional materials aligned with state standards and district goals.
  • Utilize data analytics to tailor instruction to meet diverse student needs, fostering a personalized learning experience.
  • Support students in developing digital literacy skills and encourage responsible use of technology.
  • Communicate regularly with students, parents, and guardians to provide progress updates and address concerns.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance instructional practices and stay current with educational technologies.
  • Design and implement instructional programs aligned with CSUSA’s educational philosophy and adopted curriculum objectives.
  • Develop intentional and effective lesson plans using diverse teaching strategies to optimize engagement.
  • Deliver subject matter through real-world applications and experiential learning.
  • Analyze student records to gain insights into individual abilities and needs while maintaining accurate documentation.
  • Integrate differentiated instruction tailored to diverse learning modalities and student needs.
  • Conduct frequent diagnostic assessments, evaluate student strengths and weaknesses, and provide targeted activities.
  • Refer students with potential learning challenges to appropriate support services.
  • Organize class field trips and prepare students for state-mandated achievement assessments.
  • Contribute to ongoing curriculum development, including revising course materials and selecting instructional resources.
  • Establish a virtual classroom environment that fosters learning and is suited to student maturity and interests.
  • Build positive relationships with students, demonstrating patience and support to facilitate growth.
  • Enforce relevant policies regarding student behavior and develop clear, reasonable rules for virtual classroom conduct.
  • Develop lesson plans aligned with established educational guidelines and goals.
  • Design individual and group learning activities using appropriate technologies.
  • Collaborate with colleagues during curriculum planning meetings and integrate IEP requirements into lesson planning.
  • Cultivate cooperative relationships and communicate effectively with parents/guardians as needed.
  • Maintain clear, consistent, and positive communication with parents using appropriate channels.
  • Participate in extracurricular activities to promote a positive school culture and support students and staff.
  • Set clear expectations for behavior and participation in the virtual classroom.
  • Engage students actively using interactive activities, discussions, and multimedia resources.
  • Establish a consistent schedule for classes to build stability and encourage regular attendance.
  • Utilize technology effectively, including LMS features like chat, screen sharing, and virtual whiteboards.
  • Monitor student participation and provide timely, constructive feedback.
  • Foster a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and collaborating.
  • Provide regular updates to parents about student progress, assignments, and important dates.
  • Organize virtual meetings to discuss student performance and address concerns.
  • Encourage open dialogue with parents and share resources to support learning at home.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Valid teaching certification in the subject area and grade level.
  • Experience with blended learning models and instructional technology.
  • Strong understanding of middle and high school curriculum and assessment practices.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to adapt instructional strategies to meet diverse learning needs.
  • Previous experience in virtual teaching or online education environments is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with educational technologies, including LMS, video conferencing tools, and online assessment platforms.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build rapport with students and create an inclusive virtual learning environment.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current with educational best practices.

Skills

  • Effective virtual classroom management, including setting clear expectations and maintaining engagement.
  • Proficiency with tools such as Google Classroom, Canvas, Schoology, Jamboard, Miro, Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Kahoot!, Quizizz, and Nearpod.
  • Ability to manage multiple classes, track student progress, and meet deadlines.

Work Environment

This position is performed in a POD location site setting, incorporating both in-person and online instruction. The BOSS High School POD Instructor collaborates with a team of educators and works closely with students in a supportive and innovative learning environment.

Physical Demands

  • Extended use of computer-based technologies for instruction.
  • Standing, sitting, and walking as required for teaching responsibilities.

This job is exempt from the minimum wage and overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
