About the role
The U.S. Border Patrol (USBP) is hiring immediate entry-level positions for federal law enforcement careers. Candidates with prior experience in public safety, security, military police, or law enforcement are encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities
- Deterring illicit activity and ensuring border security
- Inspecting documents and possessions to determine citizenship or violations
- Preventing and apprehending undocumented noncitizens and smugglers
- Maintaining surveillance and conducting night operations
- Interpreting and following tracks, marks, and other physical evidence
- Performing various types of checks and patrols
- Patrolling the international boundary and coastal waterways
Requirements
- One year of general work experience or a combination of education and experience
- A bachelor's degree or equivalent from an accredited institution
- Specialized work experience for the GL-7 grade level
- Superior academic achievement or graduate-level education in a related field
- Primary U.S. residency for at least three of the last five years
- Age under 40 at the time of hire
Qualifications
- Citizenship: U.S. Citizen
- Veterans' Preference: Eligible
- Formal Training: Required after hire
- Language Proficiency: Ability to speak and read Spanish, as well as English
Benefits
- Annual Base Salary ranging from $51,632 to $92,912
- Exceptional benefits including health, dental, and retirement plans
- Up to $60,000 in additional incentives

- GL-5: $51,632 - $92,912
- GL-7: $71,632 - $122,912
