About the role

The U.S. Border Patrol (USBP) is hiring immediate entry-level positions for federal law enforcement careers. Candidates with prior experience in public safety, security, military police, or law enforcement are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

  • Deterring illicit activity and ensuring border security
  • Inspecting documents and possessions to determine citizenship or violations
  • Preventing and apprehending undocumented noncitizens and smugglers
  • Maintaining surveillance and conducting night operations
  • Interpreting and following tracks, marks, and other physical evidence
  • Performing various types of checks and patrols
  • Patrolling the international boundary and coastal waterways

Requirements

  • One year of general work experience or a combination of education and experience
  • A bachelor's degree or equivalent from an accredited institution
  • Specialized work experience for the GL-7 grade level
  • Superior academic achievement or graduate-level education in a related field
  • Primary U.S. residency for at least three of the last five years
  • Age under 40 at the time of hire

Qualifications

  • Citizenship: U.S. Citizen
  • Veterans' Preference: Eligible
  • Formal Training: Required after hire
  • Language Proficiency: Ability to speak and read Spanish, as well as English

Benefits

  • Annual Base Salary ranging from $51,632 to $92,912
  • Exceptional benefits including health, dental, and retirement plans
  • Up to $60,000 in additional incentives

Pay

  • GL-5: $51,632 - $92,912
  • GL-7: $71,632 - $122,912

Schedule

  • Full-time position
  • Opportunities for relocation to duty locations across the Southwest Border
