About the role

The U.S. Border Patrol (USBP) is hiring immediate entry-level positions in federal law enforcement. Ideal candidates should have experience in public safety, security, military police, or law enforcement.

Responsibilities

  • Safeguarding borders and deterring illegal activities
  • Inspecting documents and possessions to determine citizenship or violations
  • Maintaining surveillance and conducting night operations
  • Interpreting and following tracks and evidence of illegal entry
  • Patrolling the international boundary and coastal waterways
  • Performing various types of checks and patrols

Requirements

  • GL-5: One year of general work experience or a bachelor's degree with a GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • GL-7: One year of specialized work experience or a bachelor's degree with superior academic achievement, or a full year of graduate-level education in a related field

Qualifications

  • Citizenship: Must be a U.S. citizen
  • Residency: At least three of the last five years must be primary U.S. residency
  • Age Restriction: Must be referred for selection before turning 40
  • Veterans Preference: Eligible for Veterans Recruitment Appointment (VRA)

Skills

Ability to speak and read Spanish, as well as English, is required. Proficiency in Spanish will be provided at the Border Patrol Academy.

Benefits

  • Annual base salary ranging from $51,632 to $92,219

  • Up to $60,000 in additional incentives, including recruitment and retention incentives

Annual base salary varies per grade level, with GL-5/GL-7 ranges from $51,632 to $92,219 per year.

Full-time positions available with potential relocation requirements. Duty locations impact pay rates, with higher pay in some areas.
