Bookstore Associate
About the role
We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Bookstore Associate to assist the Bookstore Manager in the daily operations of our store. This role combines in-store retail responsibilities with online store management, making it ideal for someone who enjoys both customer interaction and behind-the-scenes organization. Environment: Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory is a world-renowned biomedical research institution in New York. It has shaped contemporary biomedical research and is the home of eight Nobel Prize laureates. Responsibilities
- Utilize POS System to handle sales, exchanges and returns
- Provide Customer Service
- Follow opening and closing procedures.
- Perform daily reconciliation of receipts.
- Handling and unpacking of book cases weighing approx. 30lbs – 50lbs each.
- Maintain the store’s stock of books, clothing and gifts; fold and arrange clothing
- Provide general up-keep of store (vacuuming, dusting), organize merchandise
- Assist with inventory, including re-stocking, barcode labeling, pricing, tracking low-stock and sold-out merchandise
- Run off-campus errands including banking, picking up supplies
- Research and recommend new book titles for purchase.
- Handle web store maintenance including merchandise additions and deletions, inventory tracking, pricing, description of items, styles, colors and sizes.
- Improve overall website look and design.
- Retrieve, fulfill and ship online orders as they come in daily.
Requirements
- EDUCATION: High school or equivalent
