- Find books and other products with ease and accuracy using personal knowledge, colleague expertise, BookMaster, and available information tools.
- Support the café team willingly and effectively when needed.
- Understand loss prevention procedures and de-escalation techniques; identify theft, spot problematic behavior, and seek support for issues in the store.
Qualifications
- Physical ability for prolonged standing, repetitive bending, lifting, and extensive walking.
- Willingness to work in other stores as needed to collaboratively support the wider cluster.
- Compliance with all company policies and procedures.
Career Growth
As you gain experience, you will build book knowledge across fiction, nonfiction, and children’s sections; use that knowledge to maintain and present books attractively; make effective recommendations; and support key sales objectives (Monthly Picks, Book of the Year, Membership, preorders, etc.). You will also develop expertise in Educational Toys & Games, Specialty Games, Hobby & Collectibles, music, movies, and Newsstand — maintaining those sections, assisting customers, and driving sales of new releases.
