A Barnes & Noble bookstore is a gathering place for readers and the community. As a Bookseller, you are an integral member of the bookselling team at the heart of our stores. You welcome customers in a cheerful and helpful way by saying hello, answering questions, and consistently going out of your way to connect readers with the right titles and products.

About the role

  • Welcome customers cheerfully and helpfully.
  • Maintain the attractive presentation of the store and ensure its efficient running.
  • Unpack and shelve deliveries.
  • Work registers in a quick and friendly manner.
  • Help the café team when needed.
  • Support the bookstore team in maintaining the store's cleanliness and order.
  • Master the operational competencies of a Barnes & Noble bookseller, including:
    • Using various technology, including registers, computers, tablets, programs, and other tools.
    • Developing strong merchandising and visual merchandising skills.
    • Running a register competently.
    • Supporting the receiving and unpacking of deliveries.
    • Finding books and other products with ease and accuracy.
    • Understanding loss prevention procedures and de-escalation techniques.
    • Engage in physical activities including prolonged standing, repetitive bending, lifting, and walking.
