Location: Seattle, WA – Pike Street (Store #3592). Classification: Part‑Time.
Job Summary
A Barnes & Noble bookstore is a gathering place for readers and the community. As a Bookseller you welcome customers cheerfully, answer questions, and connect readers with the right titles and products. You also help maintain the store’s attractive presentation, unpack and shelve deliveries, tidy displays, and operate the registers quickly and professionally.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet customers, answer inquiries, and provide personalized book recommendations.
- Maintain attractive merchandising and visual presentation across books, gifting, toys, games, hobby items, music, movies, and the newsstand.
- Operate registers, tablets, computers, and other store technology efficiently.
- Receive, unpack, and accurately shelve deliveries; keep back‑stock organized.
- Locate books and products using personal knowledge, colleagues, BookMaster, and other tools.
- Support the café team when needed.
- Follow loss‑prevention procedures and de‑escalation techniques to identify theft and address problematic behavior.
- Develop deep knowledge of fiction, nonfiction, children’s books, educational toys, specialty games, collectibles, and other product categories.
- Promote key sales initiatives such as Monthly Picks, Book of the Year, Memberships, pre‑orders, and new releases.
- Assist other stores in the cluster when required.

Qualifications
Physical ability to stand for prolonged periods, perform repetitive bending, lift items, and walk extensively throughout the store. Availability to work a flexible schedule that includes early mornings, late evenings, weekends, and most holidays. Ability to work in other stores within the cluster when needed.

Pay
Hourly rate starts at $21.30 and can increase up to $22.80, depending on experience, seniority, geographic location, and other factors permitted by law.
Schedule
The store operates from early mornings to late evenings every day, including weekends and most holidays. Employees are expected to be flexible, fill scheduling gaps when possible, and may be asked to work in other stores within the cluster.
