Responsibilities
- Works on General Journal, General Ledger and trial balance.
- Trains Assistant to perform all bookkeeping functions as needed.
- Maintains complete set of records of all financial transactions.
- Balances books for the preparation of reports showing income, expenses, and other bookkeeping items.
- Checks computation of bills.
- Checks deposits, fees collected, and receipts issued.
- Checks petty cash payments.
- Prepares food claim reports.
- Collections fees, issues receipts, and reconciles receipts totals with actual cash collected.
- Prepares bank deposit slips and deposits receipts weekly.
- Posts and summarizes fee cards.
- Reports weekly on fees in arrears.
- Prepares children’s attendance reports and enters attendance in DOE Vendor Portal.
- Maintains petty cash funds by receiving bills and necessary change, entering expenditures daily, balancing petty cash daily, and entering receipt of petty cash funds.
- Keeps daily records of staff attendance, including vacation and sick leave balances.
- Acts as receptionist for childcare center and answers phones.
- Performs all typing for center, such as lists, children’s records, absence notices, late fee notices, permanent equipment requisitions, minutes and agendas for staff meetings, reports, etc.
- Maintains permanent equipment inventory.
- Affords assistance to parents in completing Child Intake Packages and Child Certification and Recertification paperwork.
- Maintains up-to-date child files.
- Requires basic computer skills - email, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and ability to do online trainings.
- Performs other duties as assigned, consistent with the above and with programmatic needs.
Qualifications
- Graduation from a commercial high school or business school with one year of high school Bookkeeping courses or six credits of college accounting.
- Knowledge of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- One-year experience related in Bookkeeping.
