BOL Clerk

About the role

The BOL Clerk prepares and manages all documentation related to the shipment of goods. This role involves creating, verifying, and processing bills of lading, ensuring compliance with shipping regulations, and maintaining accurate records of all shipments. The BOL Clerk coordinates with various departments and external carriers to ensure the timely and accurate dispatch of goods.

Responsibilities

• Prepare correct bills of lading in a timely manner, ensuring all information matches the physical parts packed.
• Maintain accurate records of all shipments and related documentation and provide follow-up.
• Work closely with the shipping, receiving, and inventory departments to ensure accurate and timely shipment of goods.
• Communicate with external carriers to arrange for the transportation of goods.
• Identify and resolve any discrepancies or issues with shipment documentation; check hotlists and held-ups/FedEx for potential last-minute shipping problems.
• Monitor and track the status of shipments, ensuring timely delivery.
• Provide excellent customer service by addressing inquiries and resolving issues related to shipment documentation.
• Prepare and distribute reports related to shipping activities and discrepancies.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent; coursework in logistics or a related field is a plus.
• 2+ years of previous experience in a shipping or logistics role, particularly with bill of lading preparation.

Skills

• Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
• WMS experience strongly preferred.
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to identify and resolve discrepancies and issues promptly.
• Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
