Job Requirements

• 6+ years of experience in Boilermaker work.
• NCCER Written Certification or NCCER Plus Certification.
• Physical requirements: able to work at heights, in confined spaces, lift up to 50 lbs, and work in various weather conditions.
• Reliable transportation.
• Ability to work a rotating schedule including nights and weekends.
• Self-motivated.

Job Duties

• Read specifications to determine the scope of work.
• Identify tools required for tasks.
• Identify safety risks and take precautions.
• Fabricate equipment according to blueprints or supervisor's instructions.
• Hoist equipment and tools into location via bull rigging or crane.
• Steel fabrication using torches, band saws, plasma cutter, grinders, etc.
• Minor pipe fabrication – pull field measurements to repair/replace like-in-kind pipe sections.
• Pipe and steel prep for welding procedures.
• Follow direction of supervision.

Leadership Abilities

• Perform all job duties of craft trade.
• Stop work for misinformation, safety concerns, or any other reason creating a risk.

Drawings and Specifications

• Read and understand craft specs, craft spec procedures, and recommendations.
• Locate piece marks for correct views and know how to pick out different elevations.
• Know the correct installation based on the orientation.
• Knowledge of symbols based on legend.
• Knowledge of rigging components (come-a-longs, chain hoists, tuggers).
• Knowledge of rigging practices (knots, tagging lines).

Equipment and Tools

• Knowledge of specialty tools (torque wrench, mill hogg, torch, plasma cutter, chop saws, mag drills, Hogan drills).
• Welding and cutting knowledge (cutting torch, set up, dangers, usage, cleaning, types of tips).
• Equipment knowledge (JLG man baskets, ST and RT forklifts, ability to train and operate).
• Basic maintenance (inspections).
• Safe operations practices (signaling equipment, flagging cranes, forklifts, man lifts).

Math Skills

• Footage, addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions.

Certifications and Licenses

• NCCER - Industrial Boilermaker.
• MUST HAVE VALID DL.

Physical Requirements

• Standing, walking, bending, squatting, lifting up to 50 lbs.
• Working at heights, climbing ladders and stairways, working off of platforms.
• Working at heights up to 300' utilizing proper fall protection.
• Working outside in the elements including heat, cold, rain, snow, and wind.
• Wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) including hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, fall arrest harness, face shield, ear plugs, and goggles.
