Boiler Operator I-OEM

About the Role

Senior-level boiler operator responsible for the operation, repair, and maintenance of low-pressure steam boilers, low-pressure hot water boilers, and auxiliary equipment used for heating and other processes within the PVSC plant site. The role involves monitoring boiler equipment, identifying and correcting operational issues, and ensuring compliance with N.J.A.C. 12:90 and all other relevant boiler codes and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Operate, maintain, and repair low-pressure steam and hot water boilers and auxiliary equipment.
• Monitor boiler equipment to ensure proper operation and address any problems.
• Follow proper procedures to operate, maintain, adjust, and regulate pumps, valves, and other mechanical equipment.
• Adhere to occupational safety hazards and exercise necessary safety precautions within the treatment plant.
• Respond to emergencies and job assignments on a 24-hour basis.
• Perform entry into confined spaces while wearing appropriate PPE, including canister and dust masks, and SCBA (Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus).

Requirements

• Knowledge of boilers and related equipment used in heating and process applications.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English sufficiently to perform job duties.
• Availability for emergencies and job assignments on a 24-hour basis.
• Valid New Jersey driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Minimum of three (3) years of experience operating high-pressure boilers.
• High school diploma, vocational school diploma, or equivalency certificate.
• New Jersey Blue Seal Boiler License (minimum of three (3) years holding this license).
• Ability to obtain a New Jersey Red Seal Boiler License after an appropriate training period.

Physical Demands

• Perform physical activities requiring considerable use of arms, legs, and the whole body, including sitting, standing, climbing (including ladders), working from elevated areas, lifting up to 50 lbs., balancing, walking, stooping, pushing, pulling, and handling heavy objects.
• Ability to perform essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation to ensure health and safety.

Working Conditions

Workers are employed in conditions associated with a wastewater treatment plant and sewer collection system, both indoors and outdoors.

Pay

The expected base pay range for this position is $97,771 to $134,808. The specific salary offered may be influenced by factors such as relevant experience, qualifications, education, training, and formal credentials.
