Key Responsibilities
- Prepare vehicles for repair by reviewing work orders, damage estimates, and manufacturer repair procedures.
- Perform collision repairs including structural repairs, panel replacement, welding, straightening, and alignment of damaged components.
- Repair or replace damaged body panels, frames, doors, bumpers, and related components to meet quality and safety standards.
- Perform metal work, plastic repair, and body filler application to restore vehicle surfaces prior to refinishing.
- Ensure repairs are completed efficiently and accurately while maintaining a clean, safe, and organized work area.
- Document repairs, parts usage, and additional repair recommendations accurately within repair orders and estimating systems.
- Collaborate with estimators, painters, and management to ensure repair quality, timelines, and customer expectations are met.
- Maintain and properly use shop tools, welding equipment, frame machines, and measuring systems.
- Follow all safety protocols, OSHA standards, and manufacturer guidelines to promote a safe working environment.
- Stay current with industry trends, repair techniques, and evolving vehicle construction materials.
General Knowledge and Skills You Will Need
- A strong understanding of collision repair processes, structural repair techniques, and body shop equipment.
- The ability to read and interpret repair estimates, OEM repair procedures, and technical documentation.
- A high attention to detail with a focus on quality workmanship and safety compliance.
- Strong time-management and organizational skills to meet production goals and deadlines.
- The ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with team members across the body shop.
- A commitment to continuous learning and adapting to new materials, tools, and repair technologies.
Desired Education and Experience
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience as a body shop technician or collision repair technician preferred.
- I-CAR training or certifications a plus.
