Body Shop Estimator Job Responsibilities
- Assess and estimate the cost of repairs for damaged vehicles, ensuring accuracy and compliance with industry standards and guidelines
- Conduct thorough inspections of vehicles to identify all necessary repairs and replacements
- Prepare detailed and itemized estimates, including parts, labor, and materials required for each repair
- Collaborate with insurance adjusters, customers, and repair technicians to discuss repair options, obtain approvals, and answer any related inquiries
- Utilize industry-standard software and tools to document and track estimates, repairs, and work progress
- Maintain effective communication and build strong relationships with insurance providers, suppliers, and vendors to ensure timely delivery of parts and services
- Stay updated with industry trends, repair techniques, and manufacturer specifications to provide accurate estimates and recommendations
- Assist with administrative tasks, such as maintaining records, preparing reports, and processing billing information

Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; post-secondary education in automotive technology or a related field is preferred
- Proven experience as a Collision Estimator or in a similar role within the automotive industry
- Strong knowledge of automotive repair procedures, parts, and labor costs
- Proficient in using computerized estimating systems and software
- Excellent mathematical and analytical skills
- Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to interact with customers, insurance adjusters, and repair technicians
- Familiarity with insurance policies and procedures is an asset
- Certification by the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) is desirable but not mandatory
