Responsibilities

  • Conduct group exercise classes and provide assistance in a safe, enthusiastic, thorough, courteous and professional manner.
  • Be a positive YMCA role model with an enthusiastic attitude.
  • All scheduled classes will be held, and sub coverage secured.
  • Classes will start and end on time.
  • Greet participants and learn their names.
  • Take class attendance.
  • Familiarize yourself with our Upace Group Ex technology which includes but is not limited to sub tracking system, class contact feature, class cancellation.
  • Check and respond in a timely fashion to your YMCA email.
  • Identify your participants’ limitations and adapt your classes and/or provide modifications accordingly.
  • Properly and safely utilize all equipment associated with your class.
  • Promote a healthy lifestyle.
  • Attend advanced training workshops that are offered throughout the year by the YMCA of Greater Brandywine (or another co-op member YMCA).
  • Participate in special events and open houses throughout the year.
  • Ensures compliance with all YGBW policies and standard operating procedures.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • At least 1 year of participation in group exercise class(es) required.
  • Possess and maintains at least one current Group Exercise certificate of completion or specialty certificate from a reputable organization for each specialized group modality.
  • Obtain and maintain all new hire certifications and trainings within 90 days of hire.

  • Ability to plan, lead, and participate in classes and activities.
  • Ability to perform all physical aspects of the position, including leading class, walking, standing, bending, reaching, and lifting.
