National Harbor Boathouse, managed by Guest Services, Inc., is hiring seasonal boathouse supervisors for the 2026 season (mid-April through October). The position is full-time, with staff expected to work at least 4 days a week, including one weekend day and summer holidays such as Memorial Day, 4th of July, and Labor Day.

About the role

The Boathouse Supervisor assists Unit Managers in all aspects of unit operations and floor management, including equipment and property, to meet financial goals and company initiatives. The role focuses on cultivating a team environment that delivers exceptional customer service while ensuring high performance from all staff members.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure complete guest satisfaction at all times.
  • Handle guests' complaints and resolve them according to customer service standards.
  • Monitor and supervise maintenance of dock and grounds areas to ensure quality standards.
  • Assist in supervising and directing the unit's staff at the direction of the Unit Manager and Assistant Manager.
  • Train hourly staff for peak performance and monitor their development.
  • Maintain and ensure a safe facility environment, including standards for maintenance, sanitation, dress, cash control, and employee hygiene.
  • Notify the General Manager of all unusual events, circumstances, or other safety or quality control issues.
  • Control and administer boat rentals.
  • Assist customers with using equipment and safely getting on and off the equipment.
  • Perform opening and closing procedures as directed.
  • Operate motorboat for area sweeps and water rescues as needed.
  • Perform end-of-day closeout, including cash accountability and sales reports.
  • Price and stock inventory.
  • Conduct and submit end-of-month inventories, extensions, and summaries.
  • Clean and sanitize site equipment, take out trash, and clean bathrooms.
  • Maintain awareness of safety issues and report them immediately to your manager.
  • Respond to guests' calls and emails in a timely and respectful manner, helping them rebook and edit reservations.
  • Other duties as required by your Manager and/or Assistant Manager.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Boating or related marina experience; knowledge of sailing and experience preferred.
  • Computer proficiency with the ability to use MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Demonstrated talent for interacting with a wide variety of people.
  • Ability to effectively organize and coordinate multiple priorities; ability to work well as a team leader and problem-solve.
  • Strong customer service abilities; actively looks for ways to assist customers and coworkers.
  • Must be able to swim or be willing to wear a personal flotation device while on duty.
  • Basic proficiency in speaking Spanish, Portuguese, and/or Hindi (for MA locations only) preferred.

Physical and Mental Requirements

  • Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, including frequent movements within the unit.
  • Bend, lift, carry, reach/extend arms and hands above shoulder height frequently in a constantly changing environment.
  • Lifting, carrying, and pushing up to 25 lbs. regularly, 30-35 lbs. frequently, and up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
  • Ability to stand for the entire workday and climb steps regularly.
  • Working in wet, slippery, hot, and damp outdoor conditions.
  • Frequently immerse hands in water.
  • Reading and writing work-related documents in English.
  • Speech recognition and clarity, including understanding and speaking clearly in English with customers and coworkers.
  • Constant communication and verbal exchanges in a fast-paced environment.
  • Physical presence at the job site is essential to perform job duties.

Equipment Used

  • Typical office equipment (computers, phone systems, fax, copiers, scanners).
  • All dock equipment and materials (boats, ropes, anchors, etc.).

Pay

$19.00 USD hourly.

Schedule

  • Seasonal position: mid-April through October.
  • Open 5 days a week.
  • Full-time, with staff expected to work at least 4 days a week.
  • Must work at least one weekend day and summer holidays (Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day).
