About the role
The Boat Services Manager reports to the Boat Manager and oversees daily operations of the Boat Service area within a Bass Pro Shops or Free-Standing Store. This includes inventory control, service, warranty, rigging, delivery, detail, and parts activities.
Responsibilities
- Support the Boat Manager in achieving the department’s financial goals for Service and Parts Sales, Gross Margin, Inventory Shrinkage, and Payroll.
- Provide daily supervision and direction to associates in the Service Department.
- Schedule and assign service, rigging, and warranty work orders, ensuring timely and satisfactory completion.
- Maintain and increase associate productivity while fostering a safe, clean, and secure work environment.
- Uphold a commitment to world-class customer service, ensuring a pleasant shopping experience for all customers.
- Assist the Boat Manager in staffing the Service area, including interviewing, training, performance appraisals, and scheduling.
- Resolve customer and associate concerns in collaboration with the Boat Manager.
- Coordinate "Special Events" such as Boat Shows, Classic events, and promotional activities.
- Manage and ensure accuracy of unit and parts inventories.
- Oversee warranty claims, ensuring timely submission and payment.
- Ensure products are properly detailed and unit deliveries are conducted professionally.
- Execute supervisory responsibilities in accordance with company policies, including planning, assigning work, and addressing complaints.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
- 2–4 years of experience in Retail Boating or a similar industry; supervisory experience is a plus.
- Ability to calculate figures such as discounts, commissions, and percentages.
- Proficiency in reading and analyzing reports.
- Strong interpersonal and presentation skills for engaging with managers, associates, customers, and the public.
- Experience conducting meetings and presentations.
- Proficiency with PC-based word processing, spreadsheets, database management, and electronic point-of-sale/inventory systems.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, associates, customers, and corporate staff.
Physical Requirements
- Regularly performs computer work, walks, and stands.
- Occasionally sits and lifts up to 50 lbs.
