About the role

The Watercraft Maintenance Technician (WMT) position supports the C Company Support Battalion, 1st Special Warfare Training Group (A) at the Special Forces Underwater Operations (SFUWO) facility in Key West, FL. This role is critical in maintaining and supporting a diverse fleet of watercraft and associated equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain the Zodiac F470 Combat Rubber Raiding Craft and all echelons of maintenance as mandated by OPNAV Instruction 4790 and using SKED for the combat rubber raiding craft.
  • Repair holes, cuts, and tears, replace transom and baffles, and maintain hard and soft floors of the boats.
  • Maintain all diver dry suits.
  • Perform maintenance on all types of boats and outboard motors.
  • Assist with the issue, return/turn-in, storage, inventory, calibration, maintenance, and repairs of all mission equipment, support equipment, tools, dive gear, and test equipment.
  • Monitor the calibration schedule and report material deficiencies and completed maintenance actions.
  • Maintain detailed logs and forms such as Re-entry Control (REC) Logs and Failure Analysis or Inadequacy Report (FAIR) forms.
  • Ensure proper testing and inspection of work done by outside activities.
  • Operate a standalone computer and be proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Have strong organizational skills and be able to work independently.
  • Be familiar with AR 25-50 and write correspondence in a military format when necessary.

Requirements

  • MUST HAVE SECRET CLEARANCE.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • A valid, unencumbered, state driver’s license.
  • An excellent work ethic, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Detailed and accurate performance in all functions.
  • Familiarity with AR 25-50.

Qualifications

  • Skills and qualifications to maintain all types of boats and outboard motors.
  • Knowledge of OPNAV Instruction 4790 and SKED for the combat rubber raiding craft.
  • Experience with preventive maintenance checks and services (PMCS).
  • Ability to write correspondence in a military format when necessary.

Skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Knowledge of AR 25-50.
  • Excellent work ethic and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and operate a standalone computer.
  • Familiarity with dive operations and equipment maintenance.
