Roles & Responsibilities

  • Develop a comprehensive annual Development Plan with specific goals for fundraising campaigns and events with an emphasis on corporate sponsorships and donor cultivation.
  • Explore new audiences, partnerships and opportunities to expand fundraising opportunities.
  • Support grant prospecting cultivation and strategy, proposal development and copywriting.
  • Collaborate with fellow board members to strengthen their outreach and donor cultivation efforts in a long-term, sustainable manner.

Experience

  • Experience in fundraising, nonprofit development and/or donor relations.
  • Strategic thinker with energy, creativity and passion for increasing donor database.
  • Comfortable leading public facing activities.
  • Knowledge of philanthropic giving trends in both the corporate and individual communities.
  • Lead a Development Committee team of volunteers charged with seeking sponsorships and in-kind donations.
  • Knowledge of current ocean related issues and developments in the ocean community designed to improve ocean health is highly desirable.

The role of an IOFF Board Director is to promote and endorse the IOFF efforts throughout the communities it serves, and act in a judicious manner and in accordance with fiduciary responsibility for the organization. As a volunteer team, the Board of Directors is responsible for using its network to advance ocean conservation by supporting the organization's pillars of ocean education. The Board of Director volunteer role commitment is a four-year term with an annual financial obligation.

We achieve this by organizing a world-class environmental film festival, securing industry thought leaders and speakers, expanding our global audience base and empowering youth with opportunities. Board members volunteer their time, skills, and knowledge to promote the foundation to their personal and professional networks, provide strategic guidance and create their own initiatives and partnerships to fundraise and increase awareness about the organization’s mission and its programs.

Experience
