About the role
Dane Street is a national Independent Review Organization with a robust legal clientele. We are expanding our physician panel to support Texas Contra-Affidavit and expert witness requests. This is a contract (1099) position compensated on a per-case basis, offering supplemental income with a caseload customized to your schedule. As a Physician Reviewer/Advisor supporting Dane Street Legal Services IMEs, you will review medical records and address clinical questions, medical necessity of treatment, and usual and customary charges for services. The expert will support the Counter-Affidavit process and be available for deposition and trial testimony. Experience with counter affidavit, testimony, and deposition work is preferred. Expertise in analyzing the application of CPT codes in combination with usual and customary rates and state fee schedules, alongside clinical expertise, is essential.
Responsibilities
- Accept cases on a contract basis as individual schedule permits
- Review all medical records and complete the counter-affidavit process addressing each question, all clinical concerns, and any charges/fee concerns based on clinical expertise and standards/norms for fees/charges in Texas practice
- Provide copies of any criteria utilized in a review with the report in a timely manner
- Return cases on or before the specified due date and time
- Perform other duties as assigned, including addressing necessary clarifications, providing addenda as required (with additional compensation), and identifying and responding to client questions as necessary
Requirements
- Active Texas medical license
- Board certification
- Experience and expertise in analyzing CPT codes in combination with usual and customary rates and Texas state fee schedules
- Counter affidavit, testimony, and/or deposition work experience (preferred)
