We are seeking a Board Certified/Board Eligible Psychiatrist to support the Veteran community in the Hampton, VA area. This position is open to all candidates, including Locum or Traveling professionals.

About the Role

A typical day involves seeing about 12-15 patients daily, with 95% of time dedicated to direct patient care and 5% to administrative tasks. Responsibilities include both inpatient and outpatient care in collaboration with VA Mental Health staff.

  • Inpatient Care: Operating and collaborating with patients, seeing ward patients, admitting, diagnosing, developing treatment plans, managing timely treatment, discharge/transfer, and all required medical record documentation.
  • Outpatient Care: Seeing new patient referrals, severely mentally ill patients, evaluation disposition, e-consults, post-discharge follow-ups (patients must be seen within 30 days), and completing History and Physical (H&P) documentation as required.

Requirements

  • Authorization to work in the U.S. permanently, without sponsorship.
  • Board Certified/Board Eligible by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
  • Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a U.S. State, Territory, Commonwealth, or the District of Columbia.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
  • Previous experience with the VA is a plus.
  • If selected, candidates must complete credentialing and onboarding requirements consistent with VA medical staff processes.

Pay

$150.00+ per hour

Schedule

8:00 am – 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday with rotating weekend/holiday coverage.
