Blood & Marrow Transplantation and Cellular Therapy Physician Scientist (Open Rank)

The Division of Blood & Marrow Transplantation and Cellular Therapy (BMT-CT) in the Department of Medicine at Stanford University seeks up to two physician-scientists to join as Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor in the University Medical Line (UML). We are particularly interested in candidates with an outstanding record (or potential) in clinical care, teaching, and research focused on multiple myeloma and related plasma cell disorders.

About the role

The successful applicant will provide outstanding ambulatory and inpatient clinical care, with a focus on multiple myeloma and related plasma cell dyscrasias. Inpatient responsibilities include managing patients with hematologic malignancies and those undergoing cellular therapy. The role also emphasizes teaching and training the next generation of physicians.

Faculty rank will be determined by the candidate’s qualifications and experience. Predominant criteria for appointment include excellence in clinical care, clinical teaching, scholarly activity advancing clinical medicine, and institutional service.

Responsibilities

• Provide ambulatory and inpatient clinical care for patients with multiple myeloma and related plasma cell disorders.
• Manage patients with hematologic malignancies and those undergoing cellular therapy.
• Engage in scholarly activity, including outcomes research, clinical trials, and translational research focused on multiple myeloma and related disorders.
• Teach and mentor the next generation of physicians and researchers.

Requirements

• MD or MD/PhD with a subspecialty in Hematology or Oncology.
• Board certification in Hematology or Oncology.
• Ability to hold or obtain a California medical license.
• Clinical expertise in blood and marrow transplantation (BMT) and cellular therapy.

Qualifications

Candidates will be considered across broad areas of scholarly accomplishment and research expertise, including but not limited to:

• Outcomes research.
• Clinical trials.
• Translational research with a focus on multiple myeloma and related disorders.

Pay

The expected base pay ranges for this position are:

• Assistant Professor: $282,000 – $296,000
• Associate Professor: $309,000 – $370,000
• Professor: $388,000 – $456,000

This pay range reflects base pay only and does not include additional components of the School of Medicine’s faculty compensation program or participation in departmental incentive compensation programs. The final offer will be determined based on factors such as experience, qualifications, internal equity, and market pay for comparable roles.
