Blood Collections Team Lead

This role supports Fixed Site operations, providing paid phlebotomy training with no prior medical experience required. Prior phlebotomy experience is preferred.

About the Role

As a team lead/charge, you will utilize your leadership and healthcare/customer service skills to support blood collection teams at donor centers. You will coach, mentor, and instruct staff while performing phlebotomy duties. This role allows you to grow your healthcare skills within the nation’s top humanitarian organization.

Responsibilities

• Lead the team and drive results through excellent customer service.
• Model professionalism and compassion as an ambassador for the American Red Cross.
• Serve as a lead/charge at donor centers and conduct phlebotomy.
• Work independently with attention to detail to ensure regulatory compliance for blood collection.

Schedule

Staff work a variable schedule, which may include early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays. Schedules are provided two to three weeks in advance.

Pay

Starting rate: $23.58/hour.

Requirements

• Associate’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and related experience (18 months to four years of work experience in a related field).
• Minimum of 1 year of leadership experience in environments with public interaction.
• Phlebotomy experience is required (equivalent experience may include needlesticks or other relevant medical responsibilities).
• Customer service experience, effective verbal communication, and public relations skills.
• A current valid driver’s license and good driving record may be required.
• Physical requirements include the ability to lift, push, or pull heavy weights, good manual dexterity, and the ability to sit or stand for long periods.
• Basic computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior healthcare or phlebotomy experience (e.g., CNA, MA, EMT).
• Prior leadership experience in a healthcare setting.
