About the Role

As part of our team, you will utilize healthcare and/or customer service skills to support every step of the blood collection process. Responsibilities include transporting and setting up equipment at collection sites, creating a welcoming environment for donors, and ensuring safety protocols are followed. The Red Cross provides paid phlebotomy training, enabling you to develop your skills and advance your career within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Personally connect with donors, listen to their stories, and help them understand the impact of their donation.
  • Collaborate with teammates to create a welcoming and friendly environment for volunteer donors.
  • Maintain detailed orientation to ensure collected blood meets goals, regulatory requirements, and safety standards.
  • Drive Red Cross vehicles and assist with setting up and tearing down equipment at donation sites.
  • Work a variable schedule that may include early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays to meet donor and community needs.

Schedule

  • Variable shifts including Mon-Fri, Tues-Sat, or Sun-Thurs.
  • Schedule provided 2-3 weeks in advance.
  • Position may require a minimum height of 60 inches to safely operate Red Cross vehicles.

Pay

$21.33/hour.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Customer service experience and effective verbal communication skills.
  • Current, valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
  • Ability to lift, push, or pull heavy weights up and down ramps and stairs, good manual dexterity, and the ability to sit or stand for long periods.
  • Adaptability to long, irregular hours and frequent schedule changes.
  • Basic computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior healthcare or phlebotomy experience (e.g., CNA, MA, EMT).
  • Prior leadership experience.
