About the Role
As part of our team, you’ll use your healthcare and/or customer service skills to support every step of the blood collection process. Responsibilities include transporting and setting up equipment at local collection sites, creating a welcoming environment for donors, and following safety procedures to collect lifesaving blood donations for hospitals.
Responsibilities
- Personally connect with donors, listen to their stories, and help them understand the impact of their donation.
- Collaborate with teammates to create a welcoming and friendly environment for volunteer donors.
- Maintain detailed orientation to ensure collected blood meets goals, regulatory requirements, and safety standards.
- Drive Red Cross vehicles and assist with setting up and tearing down equipment at donation sites.
- Work a variable schedule, including early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays, with schedules provided 2–3 weeks in advance. Overnight travel may be required in some locations.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Customer service experience and strong verbal communication skills.
- Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
- Must pass DOT physical and related requirements, including obtaining a medical certification of at least one-year duration.
- Physical ability to lift, push, or pull heavy weights, navigate ramps and stairs, and sit or stand for long periods.
- Minimum height of 60 inches may be required to safely operate Red Cross vehicles.
- Basic computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior healthcare or phlebotomy experience (e.g., CNA, MA, EMT).
- Leadership experience.
Pay
Starting rate: $19.38/hour.
