About the role
The Clinical Lab Scientist/ Blood Bank Technologist at Main Line Health performs laboratory tests and procedures on blood and blood products as prescribed by physicians. You will also manage inventory and replace blood products from suppliers.Responsibilities
- Perform crossmatches, processes and tests blood products
- Manage inventory and replace blood products from suppliers
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies in laboratory results
- Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and guidelines
Requirements
- Previous Clinical Laboratory Scientist experience is preferred
- Skills necessary to perform procedures in the Laboratory Procedures manual include specimen processing, test performance, and reporting of test results
- Ability to distinguish color differences
- Ability to troubleshoot instrument problems
- Previous laboratory computer system experience preferred
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree is required. Graduation from an approved Clinical Laboratory Scientist program or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.
- Associates Degree or equivalent education may be acceptable provided it meets the grandfather clause set forth by CLIA.
- Will consider candidates with Associate's degree for Blood Bank Technician roles!
- MT (ASCP) or equivalent certification preferred
