A member of Catholic Health Services of Long Island, St. Francis is consistently recognized by U.S. News & World Report as a national leader for Cardiology & Heart Surgery, as well as for Gastroenterology & GI Surgery Job Details Responsibilities Performs general laboratory instrument maintenance, repair and troubleshooting equipment problemsAssists with the department's Quality Assurance ProgramAssists the Supervisor with annual budget preparations. Assumes responsibility as applicable for inventory control and capital equipmentServes as a resource to other technologists in regard to necessary actions for abnormal patient results, quality control issues, instrument troubleshooting, and other problem resolution situationsDemonstrates knowledge of the CERNER Laboratory Information SystemTakes an active role in teaching/mentoring students, new employees and incumbent techs for cross-trainingDemonstrates knowledge and openly reinforces established hospital and laboratory safety protocolsMust be able to take on Special Projects/Assignments/Task with minimum supervisionManages the department in the absence of the SupervisorVerifies and communicates test results with multidisciplinary team Requirements NYS Clinical Laboratory Technologist licenseKnowledge of hospital, federal, and state patient safety, infection control regulations and guidelinesBachelor of Science and 4 yrs. experience (2 years in specialty) or Master degree with 2 yrs. experience (I yr. in specialty) preferredThe candidate must be "supervisor qualified" under NYSBasic proficiency in Microsoft applications including Word, Outlook, and ExcelExcellent communication skills and attention to detailAble to work independentlyAble to work rotating weekends and holidays as needed Salary Range USD $60.58 - USD $75.79 /Hr.
