Blade Finishing Operator

This full-time, project-based position is not expected to continue beyond April 2028 due to the planned relocation of the plant. Eligible new hires in good standing who successfully complete required training and demonstrate proficiency may qualify for incentive bonuses, contingent upon active employment at the time of position elimination.

Responsibilities

• Operate all Blade Finishing equipment, including Sputter process, In-Line Spray Treatment, In-Line Cure, Post Cure Inspection, Automation, Parts Washer, Inspection, and Transfer of Blades.
• Perform general blade and material handling.
• Fill in for all key areas in blade finishing, including visual and microscopic inspection of blades, monitoring machines, setting up and operating equipment.
• Produce quality work, practice safety standards, and maintain production standards.
• Identify all blade types and inspect blades for cleanliness and defects (e.g., damage, scratches, stains, improper loading).
• Transfer blades to and from trays, sleds, and pin magazines.
• Use proper fixturing to remove scrap blades and fill trays to designated levels with acceptable blades.
• Oil inspected blades and maintain a supply of required parts at each workstation to ensure constant production flow.
• Move materials in process to and from various operations and deliver finished blades to assembly areas.
• Retrieve empty hardware from Assembly Departments and accurately report on Finishing Blade Inventories.
• Clean and separate export hardware, wrap products, and fill export crates.
• Record necessary information on Blade Finishing process sheets and maintain daily production reports.
• Sit or stand for up to 7 hours per shift while sorting parts, transferring blades, or operating equipment.
• Move materials up to 50 lbs. into position and perform detailed manipulation with hands to inspect product.
• Operate a hand truck and provide ad hoc assistance throughout the department.
• Certify in all areas of the position and notify supervision of any issues affecting quality or productivity.
• Maintain a clean and orderly work area, detect and report unusual conditions, and assist in department housekeeping.
• Perform any additional duties assigned by the Manager of Blade Finishing.

Requirements

• Ability to sit or stand for up to 7 hours per shift while performing tasks.
• Capability to move materials up to 50 lbs.
• Detailed hand manipulation skills for product inspection.
• Ability to operate a hand truck.
• Mobility for extended periods of time.

Schedule

Full-time schedule of 15 days per month with every other weekend off (three-day weekends).
