About the Role
The Black Student Association Sponsor(s) (.5 FTE) will supervise students during meetings, plan and execute events throughout the year, and organize approved fundraisers to meet the club's expenses. The role involves celebrating African American culture and coordinating school-wide activities for Black History Month.
Responsibilities
- Maintains attendance records for club meetings and events
- Facilitates and oversees activities during meetings
- Coordinates school-wide activities to celebrate African American History and Culture
- Works within the given budget and keeps accurate records of monies used and received
- Follows fundraising procedures according to District policies
- Recruits student participants each school year
- Requests room space for meetings and events
- Manages and supervises the use of facilities during activities and events
- Confirms the security of the facilities
- Ensures students have transportation home and remains present until the last student is released
- Promotes and publicizes club meetings and events
- Engages students in community service activities
- Maintains positive relationships with students and interacts respectfully with students and adults
- Collaborates with administration to maintain the vision of the Strategic Goals and purpose of the club
- Uses appropriate channels to resolve concerns and problems
- Performs other related duties to ensure the efficient functioning of the club
- Completes all training and certification required by the District
- Works with community members to enhance program offerings, mentor students, and assist in fundraisers and community service activities
- Assists with writing college letters of recommendation for students upon request
- Maintains club activity account budget and other documents
- Handles field trip requests and makes transportation requests at least 20 days in advance
- Communicates student achievements and accomplishments to the activity director for parent/staff and student communication
Requirements
- Organizational skills and initiative for working with minimal direct supervision
- Strong leadership and organizational skills
- Previous successful experience in sponsorship/mentoring preferred
- Substantial knowledge in student support, as well as familiarity with student discipline and safety protocols
- Ability to establish and maintain positive and supportive working relationships with all stakeholders
- Flexibility to adapt to changing needs
Pay
Head Level 1: $1,209 - $2,893 based on experience
