Bird Injection Operator 1st Shift

About the Role

Perform a variety of duties related to the processing of poultry, including working with live or raw chicken. Tasks encompass handling, processing, deboning, cutting, packing, weighing, moving, and inspecting poultry products. Employees may be assigned to different departments and positions based on production and staffing needs.

Responsibilities

• Bird injection and equipment pre-operation inspection
• Weigh product on floor scale, print labels, and secure product on pallets with stretch wrap
• Move product to storage or shipping areas
• Stock lines with required PPE and hand washing products
• Complete temperature checks throughout the manufacturing area
• Verify product seals match production screens
• Operate and maintain basic production equipment, including lockout-tagout procedures
• Inspect and calibrate equipment before use and between breakdowns
• Coordinate with leads to follow production schedules and create correct Work-in-Progress (WIP)
• Follow product mix recipes and calculate correct weights by ingredient
• Ensure ingredients meet QA requirements for temperature, consistency, and co-dates
• Work with QA to obtain correct water/phage mix
• Use safety scissors/knife to open ingredients
• Operate scales, label finished buggies/bins, and store them in designated areas
• Monitor for downgrades, contamination, or foreign material and report issues
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervision

Requirements

• Willingness to work in various conditions: hot, cold, wet, and noisy environments
• Able to work around industrial equipment
• Capable of standing for several hours
• Able to lift, push, or pull up to 40 pounds
• Repetitive use of arms, wrists, and hands
• Flexibility to work in different departments and positions as needed

Qualifications

• Previous poultry production experience or experience in a food manufacturing environment preferred
• Ability to read and interpret documents in English or Spanish (e.g., safety rules, instructions, procedure manuals)
• Ability to complete checklists
