About the role
Birchwood Health Care Center, a Lifespark Skilled Nursing Community, seeks a dedicated and passionate End of Life Doula to join our growing team. We are located in Forest Lake, near North Shore Dr and Forest Lake. Established in 1979, we are part of Senior Care Communities, a local non-profit supporting seniors.
Responsibilities
- Provide non-medical, holistic support and comfort to the dying residents of a skilled nursing facility.
- Offer spiritual, emotional, and educational offerings to residents and their loved ones prior to, and during, the death of the resident.
- Partner with leadership of the Full Circle Care Program to support self-determination of the dying resident.
- Aid in implementing the integrative therapies of essential oils, massage, energy work, and/or guided imagery.
- Collaborate with the Full Circle Care Program to support the development of best practices and tools for expanding the program into other levels of care.
Requirements
- Completed an approved end of life doula program.
- In-depth knowledge of palliative care measures.
- Effective communication skills in providing support for family and caregivers around grief and bereavement.
- Experience in collaborating with an interdisciplinary team as well as family and caregivers in the areas of physical, spiritual, and emotional support needs.
- Potential to document doula/resident/caregiver visits and considerations.
- Ability to support needs for visual imagery, legacy work, and complementary care to meet the spiritual, emotional, and physical needs of the dying.
Qualifications
- Must have completed an approved end of life doula program.
