Biophysicist - Photonics & Bioelectronics Location: Cambridge, MA Job Type: Full-Time, Onsite Schedule: Monday-Friday, 9:00 AM-5:00 PM Salary: $80,000-$110,000 per year, depending on experience We are seeking a Biophysicist to join an innovative life sciences technology company developing advanced diagnostic and sensing technologies. This is a hands-on laboratory position focused on developing and integrating optical, electronic, and fluidic systems. Key Responsibilities Design and characterize optical systems, including lenses, objectives, collimation, and focusing. Build and align laser-based excitation and detection systems on a photonic bench. Work with Thorlabs or equivalent optical hardware. Design front-end electronics for small-signal detection in high-noise environments. Work with amplification, instrumentation amplifiers, shielding, and signal detection. Apply fluidics principles to sensing-system design. Integrate optics, electronics, and fluidics into sensing systems. Design and conduct laboratory experiments. Characterize prototypes and analyze experimental results. Troubleshoot technical challenges and develop practical solutions. Collaborate with scientists and engineers on experimental development. Qualifications PhD in Biophysics, Physics, Electrical Engineering, Photonics, Optics, or a related field. Candidates with a Master's degree and strong relevant experience may also be considered. Hands-on experience with photonics/optical bench work. Experience with laser alignment, collimation, and focusing. Experience with Thorlabs or equivalent optical equipment. Knowledge of electronics for small-signal detection and high-noise environments. Understanding of amplification, instrumentation amplifiers, shielding, and signal detection. Theoretical understanding of fluidics physics. Ability to work independently in a hands-on laboratory environment. Preferred Qualifications Experience with fluorescence in biological applications. Microfluidics experience. Python programming. Experience with machine learning, including PyTorch or Keras.
