BIOMEDICAL TECHNICIAN II -

About the role

Perform advanced level detailed and exacting work in the installation, inspection, maintenance and repair of a variety of powered and non-powered biomedical equipment used for diagnostic, monitoring, treatment and care of hospital and clinic patients. Ensure compliance with electrical safety standards for medical devices and adherence to hospital and departmental policies and procedures. No patient care assignment.

Responsibilities

• Perform complex installations, inspections, maintenance and repairs of biomedical equipment used for diagnostic and treatment of patients.
• Interpret data to ensure adherence to electrical safety standards by conducting maintenance safety inspections on a variety of biomedical equipment.
• Perform a variety of safety tests on medical equipment and institute corrective measures; document and maintain accurate records; may compose reports of a technical nature.
• Maintain accurate and complete documentation of work orders and safety inspection records of all equipment and services performed.
• Participate in the development of quality control and preventive maintenance designs and programs.
• Develop and maintain the technical skills needed to perform the work of the position by attending supplementary educational programs.
• Provide technical assistance and instructions to hospital staff regarding medical equipment; provide quality service to internal and external customers.
• Serve as project lead to lower-level employees; assist in training new personnel.
• Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, reading current literature, attending in-services, meetings, and workshops.
• Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.

Requirements

• Associate Degree in Technical, Electronics, or equivalent military training.
• 3 years of directly related experience in patient care equipment maintenance, modification, testing, and inspection, particularly electronic devices.
• Ability to lift, carry, push, and/or pull items weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance and items between 50 and 100 pounds or more with assistance.
• Perform work in unusual positions using full body mobility with frequent bending, kneeling, stooping, climbing, twisting, and turning.
• May be required to work on ladders or scaffolding.
• Exposure to chemicals and biohazardous materials; PPE may be required.
• May be required to travel to various work sites.

Qualifications

Related education and experience may be substituted for one another on a year-for-year basis.

• Certification (nonessential but preferred): AAMI National Medical Equipment Association Certification or Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician (CBET).

Pay

Shift differentials: 17% for Weekday Nights, 26% for Weekend Nights, and 15% for Weekend Days.

Compensation for this role is based on experience, education, and other business and organizational considerations.
