Full-time staff position within the University of Miami/UHealth Department of Clinical Engineering at the UHealth Medical Campus.
About the role
The Biomedical Technician 2 performs installation, maintenance, calibration, and repair of biomedical equipment with minimal supervision.
Responsibilities
- Oversees recall and safety alert programs for medical devices, including medical device hazard investigations, to assure compliance with patient safety goals and applicable requirements.
- Prioritizes workload effectively and completes all work assignments in a timely manner.
- Maintains accurate medical equipment documentation.
- Orders parts and supplies necessary for the servicing of medical equipment.
- Conducts cross-training in the techniques of testing, calibrating, operating, and troubleshooting biomedical systems for less experienced technicians.
- Reports and documents all medical equipment operation errors and safety issues.
- Maintains medical equipment technical library and makes updates when appropriate.
- Supervises services provided by outside vendors to ensure quality and scope of services have been met.
- Inspects incoming equipment for compliance with codes, standards, and manufacturer recommendations.
- Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent/relevant experience, certification, or license.
- Minimum 2 years of relevant experience.
- Learning Agility: Ability to learn new procedures, technologies, and protocols, and adapt to changing priorities and work demands.
- Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively with others and contribute to a team environment.
- Technical Proficiency: Skilled in using office software, technology, and relevant computer applications.
- Communication: Strong and clear written and verbal communication skills for interacting with colleagues and stakeholders.
