About the Role
Respond to service calls within a hospital or healthcare system in the Jacksonville, FL area. Evaluate, diagnose, and perform repair and planned maintenance (PM) on customer’s biomedical equipment. This role requires onsite work at customer location(s) in the Jacksonville, FL area.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate basic customer biomedical equipment issues, implement appropriate repairs, and perform PM and safety/environmental inspections.
- Assist less experienced technicians on basic and more complex repairs/resolution.
- Effectively communicate and partner with teammates and colleagues.
- Follow GE policies, procedures, hospital protocol, and complete necessary documentation.
- Maintain daily communications with customers to ensure resolution and proper follow-up, fostering strong customer relations.
- Implement GE/customer facility contract and support business goals/objectives.
- Work as a member of a local team to provide efficient service delivery to all accounts within the assigned area.
- Share on-call responsibility, including weekends, for critical issues and coverage as necessary.
- Document all repair actions and submit reports/summaries according to schedule.
- Ensure proper care of spares, tools, and test equipment, including calibration.
- Enhance and maintain technical knowledge of current standards, codes, and procedures regarding safe and effective use of medical equipment.
- Utilize sources of help (e.g., manuals, tech support, FaceTime app, online resources) to answer questions when performing PM.
- Meet Health and Human Services, Environmental Health and Safety requirements, and all other applicable regulatory requirements.
Requirements
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field and a minimum 2 years of experience servicing medical equipment; OR equivalent military education and a minimum 2 years of experience servicing medical, electrical, electronics, IT, or mechanical equipment; OR High School Diploma/GED and a minimum 4 years of experience servicing medical equipment.
- Analytical and communication skills with the ability to explain technical issues clearly to customers.
- Willingness to be available "after hours" or work a rotating on-call schedule, including weekends, for critical issues.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Must comply with GEHC's standard background check, including a post-offer drug test, and adhere to all customer access policies (e.g., proof of required immunizations, additional drug tests, or background checks).
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required; visa sponsorship is not available for this role.
Special Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 35 lbs. unassisted.
- Frequent bending, stooping, twisting, climbing, crouching/squatting, kneeling/crawling, and sitting/standing for long periods.
- Ability to reach at, above, and below shoulder level, flex/extend neck, and maintain good hand and finger dexterity.
- Specific vision abilities required include color vision, close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
