Biomedical Equipment Tech II
Job Description
The Biomedical Equipment Technician II (BMET II) maintains patient care equipment through the effective use of the Medical Equipment Management Plan. The employee performs a variety of routine tasks associated with the installation, maintenance, calibration verification, and repair of a wide scope of patient care with limited guidance from more experienced Clinical Engineering (Biomedical Engineering) professionals. The employee plans and carries out successive steps and resolves problems and deviations in accordance with the equipment manufacturers instructions, the healthcare systems policies, and accepted practices.
About the Role
This position is responsible for maintaining and repairing medical equipment within the hospital setting. The role requires a strong understanding of medical equipment and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues independently.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and repair patient care equipment
- Install new equipment as needed
- Calibrate and verify equipment functionality
- Resolve problems and deviations according to manufacturer instructions, healthcare system policies, and accepted practices
Requirements
- AAS - Associate of Applied Science or equivalent military training in Biomedical Equipment Technology or Electronics Technology
- Preferred licenses/certifications include: ICC/AAMI - CBET, CompTia A+, CompTia Net+, Cisco CCNA or similar IT certifications
- 2 years of experience as a Biomedical Equipment Technician or OEM Field Service Technician
Qualifications
- Must have a valid driver's license
- Must be able to lift up to 100 lbs
