Biomed Supervisor

About the Role

Per Diem, Days position assisting in managing the Biomedical Engineering department. Responsibilities include maintenance, service, upkeep, repair, testing, and preventative maintenance of Hospital biomedical equipment, along with required documentation to ensure compliance for State and Joint Commission inspections. Performs additional duties as requested by Plant Operations management team or Senior Management.

Responsibilities

• Works independently, demonstrating good judgment, knowledge of and ability to perform repairs/maintenance of all Hospital biomedical equipment.
• Assists the Director of Plant Operations in clearly defining the roles and responsibilities of department personnel.
• Ensures quality assurance, departmental and safety procedures are adhered to by all Bio-Med employees.
• Ensures Preventative Maintenance inspections, electrical safety testing, and problems encountered are fixed according to correct standards.
• Maintains department records, reports, and files as required.
• Maintains good public relations with all customers.
• Ensures response to emergency calls in a timely manner.
• Evaluates new equipment for safe and proper use.
• Maintains paging and nurse call communications systems, oversees new equipment installation projects.
• Responsible for complying with all policies and procedures that pertain to HIPAA, including the minimum necessary requirements for this job position. The employee does not access PHI.
• Understands their role in the HICS structure.

Requirements

• Four (4) to six (6) years’ experience as a Biomedical Engineer.
• Prior experience in a healthcare setting.
• Expertise in Electronic Engineering.
• Supervisory experience preferred.

Qualifications

Education: Minimum: Associate's Degree or equivalent work experience. Preferred: Bachelor's Degree.

Certification/Licensure/Registration: None required.
