Biomed Equipment Technician II
About the role
Responsible for maintaining and repairing medical equipment in accordance with regulatory standards and hospital policies.
Responsibilities
- Works with hospital departments to ensure minimal equipment downtime.
- Utilizes tools and test equipment appropriately and keeps an inventory of assigned tools and test equipment.
- Supports medical equipment pre-purchase evaluations and coordinates outside support activities with vendors and clients.
- Documents all equipment support activities in the database completely, accurately, and on time.
- Conducts basic analysis, troubleshooting, and patient medical equipment repair.
- Prioritizes work activities and maintains set timelines to optimize response time.
- Ensures compliance with regulatory guidelines and department goals.
- Evaluates and recommends new ideas to improve medical equipment quality, safety, and service.
- Provides nursing in-services on equipment and operational issues to reduce use errors and improve patient quality of care.
Requirements
- Associate Degree in Biomedical Technology (BMET), Electronics Engineering or related field OR successful completion of Military BMET training.
- Three years of experience in maintaining electronics or electromechanical equipment, or two years maintaining medical equipment.
- Demonstrated proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing the English language necessary to perform essential functions.
- Effective communication skills with patients, physicians, family members, and co-workers.
- Knowledge of basic computer hardware and software use.
- Understanding of regulatory agency standards and practices.
- Skilled in the use of standard test equipment and tools for the maintenance of clinical equipment.
- Technical skills in analyzing, calibrating, and installing assigned medical equipment.
- Knowledge of regulatory guidelines and hospital policies and procedures.
- High service standards, including responding to customer requests in a timely manner and anticipating customer requirements.
