ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Analyzes electronic equipment for causes of failure; isolates, tests, and replaces defective parts.
  • Uses available test equipment to test functioning problems and repair medical devices.
  • Works with equipment manufacturers on repair work and orders parts needed for equipment maintenance.
  • Performs preventive maintenance inspection and electrical safety testing and corrects problems.
  • Makes necessary operational adjustments to electronic equipment and take sensitivity, selectivity, and accuracy measurements.
  • Provides engineering and technical counsel on codes and standards, maintenance, and repair of medical equipment in clinical and non-clinical areas; establishes appropriate safety standards.
  • Provides correct, precise, and timely documentation of maintenance actions performed including documentation required by regulatory agencies.
  • Participates in in-service training of new technicians and nursing staff concerning use and operation of medical/biomedical equipment; may supervise other staff.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education: An Associate of the Applied Sciences Degree in Electronics Technology, Biomedical Equipment Technology, or a related field preferred; or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
  • DOD Training Program.
  • Experience: Eight (8) years of experience as a Biomedical Technician.
  • Licensure or Certification: Training certification from manufacturers or an acceptable third-party equipment maintenance organization strongly preferred. CBET Preferred.
