ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Analyzes electronic equipment for causes of failure; isolates, tests, and replaces defective parts.
- Uses available test equipment to test functioning problems and repair medical devices.
- Works with equipment manufacturers on repair work and orders parts needed for equipment maintenance.
- Performs preventive maintenance inspection and electrical safety testing and corrects problems.
- Makes necessary operational adjustments to electronic equipment and take sensitivity, selectivity, and accuracy measurements.
- Provides engineering and technical counsel on codes and standards, maintenance, and repair of medical equipment in clinical and non-clinical areas; establishes appropriate safety standards.
- Provides correct, precise, and timely documentation of maintenance actions performed including documentation required by regulatory agencies.
- Participates in in-service training of new technicians and nursing staff concerning use and operation of medical/biomedical equipment; may supervise other staff.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Education: An Associate of the Applied Sciences Degree in Electronics Technology, Biomedical Equipment Technology, or a related field preferred; or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
- DOD Training Program.
- Experience: Eight (8) years of experience as a Biomedical Technician.
- Licensure or Certification: Training certification from manufacturers or an acceptable third-party equipment maintenance organization strongly preferred. CBET Preferred.
