Responsibilities
- Implement and optimize bioinformatics workflows for efficient and accurate single cell RNA sequencing data analysis
- Collaborate and communicate extensively with multidisciplinary teams within and across departments to conceptualize, execute and analyze experiments in support of internal studies and external collaborations
- Integrate novel cutting-edge tools and analytical approaches into existing pipelines
- Contribute to infrastructure and workflow improvements
- Build and maintain platforms for data visualization
- Maintain detailed records up to industry standards for reproducible computing (data, code, and environments)
- Prepare results for internal meetings, grant and patent applications, scientific publications, and regulatory filings
Requirements
- PhD degree (or MS + 3 years of experience working in biotech or life sciences) in Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computational Biology, Data Science, Genetics or related field
- Demonstrated track record, including research publications, working with NGS pipelines
- Strong understanding and extensive experience with single-cell RNA-sequencing analysis principles, from alignment, assembly, reference mapping, to annotation and visualization
- Solid foundation in molecular biology and hands-on experience with Illumina sequencing
- Proficiency in R, Python or similar language, and ability to implement open-source packages
- Experience with large-scale multiomic data processing, storage, and visualization strategies
- Competency to read and incorporate newly published approaches for analysis
- Willingness to expand skill set and contribute to emerging needs in a highly dynamic start-up environment
- High integrity, great organization and ability to multitask while working within fast-paced timelines
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Collaborative team player with a problem-solver mindset
- Ability to work independently, take ownership over problems and take initiative to improve work processes, develop innovative scientific methodologies and approaches to enhance research productivity
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with single cell ATACseq and spatial transcriptomics
- General multiomics expertise: genomics, transcriptomics, epigenomics, chromatin dynamics
- Foundational knowledge of neuroscience, stem cell biology, and developmental biology
- Familiarity with in vitro directed differentiation paradigms from pluripotent stem cells (especially along the neuronal lineage), and molecular characterization of derived cell types
- 1+ years of wet lab experience is a plus
