Bioinformatics Intern - PhD in progress

Responsibilities

Developing and applying methodology to find somatic mutation in sequenced human samples.

Specific aim is to develop and apply a methodology to find somatic mutation in blood samples with sequenced whole genome at 30X coverage.

Under General Supervision And Guidance, Tasks Will Include:

• Support of moderately complex software-based systems in the supported areas.
• Contributes to the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of custom software, or the installation and maintenance of purchased software systems.
• Produces documentation such as systems requirements, designs, and plans as requested by the work unit leadership.

Qualifications

• Working towards a PhD in Computer Science or related Informatics field with a GPA of 3.0 or greater.
• Experience with Python, Unix environment and tools for processing next-generation sequencing data is preferred.

Pay

This position has a predetermined rate of $29.88 per hour.

Schedule

M-F 8 to 12, M-F 1-5, or combination of hours offering flexibility of schedule; Three month appointment with possibility of extension.
