Bindery Operator- Cutter 1st Shift

Duties & Responsibilities

• Operate cutter, folder, stitcher, booklet maker, gathering line and PUR binder.
• Ensure accurate job runs, high performance, safe work practices, minimal downtime, efficient and professional communication.
• Read and interpret information from bindery paperwork/job jackets.
• Communicate with Production Manager on validity of standards and expectations.
• Produce work following Quality Controls and Process Controls, to produce high quality work in the allotted time frames.
• Responsible and accurately record productivity & performance for evaluation against expectations of the plan.
• Coach, train, and direct General Workers, Apprentice Bindery employees, and temporary labor in executing tasks when they are assisting on the equipment.
• Recommend equipment repairs, parts, and supplies as needed.
• Coordinate pass-off of information between adjacent shifts to minimize downtime and increase productivity through information sharing.
• Inform Production Manager of any immediate concerns related to the successful operation of the department.
• Contribute/attend regular production/project specific meetings when required.
• Participate in specific continuous improvement initiatives.
• Ensure that their work area and the rest of the bindery remain clean and tidy.
• Comply with all safety and health policies, procedures and practices.
• Support organizational goals and values.
• Perform other duties as required.
